Spam (unsolicited e-mail)

Junk e-mail or Spam, as it is commonly known, has recently become a major issue for many companies. Despite the efforts of the UK government to try and clamp down the Spammers junk e-mail continues to plague almost everyone.

The problem can be overcome. We have solutions that can help whatever size your company.

When you are regularly receiving a large volume of Junk mail the simple task of checking your e-mail becomes a lengthy matter and can be a nightmare if you regularly check you messages via mobile phone or Blackberry. There are many products around that will help to alleviate the Spam problem, some are built into application software, your e-mail service provider may offer an anti-spam filtering option (we can check on this for you) or others products may be purchased separately. The correct solution will depend upon your circumstances. We have the expertise to evaluate your situation and recommend a solution that is appropriate for you.

Once you have decided on a solution you need to consider whether you will put your trust the Spam filter or if you will want to check the Spam messages that have been filtered (this can be a major task).

Weston Computing has evaluated a number of options and recommends one of two solutions:

  • SpamFighter  Recommended for indiviual users or companies with less than 10 users
  • SpamTitan      Recommended for companies with 10 or more users with a mail server.

Both products are available on an evaluation basis. Each has a completely different approach to the filtering of Spam but have been equally as effective. SpamTitan is particularly cost effective for sites with more than 50 users.
