FORAGING ON THE FARM WITH MILES IRVING
Miles Irving well known Forager spent a day in August foraging the hedgerows and fields at Hazeldene Organic Farm. Fourteen people took part including Philip Lowery Director of the Real Food Festival and Tom Beeston of Eat England. We had a great day, it was amazing to find that you are only a step away from free food. We foraged all morning then cooked lunch with the harvested leaves. Miles is a mine of information. Its was interesting to know that things like chickweed which everyone pulls out of their vegetable plots is great in a salad. Ground elder another rampant weed can be cooked like spinach, though you need to pick young leaves. Liz intends holding some more foraging days. For more information telephone 01494 783501
